Relationship Between Nasal Base Breadth and Facial Breadth Among Young Adults

Abstract

The study examines the relationship between nasal base breadth and facial breadth among young adults, focusing on the association between these two facial anthropometric dimensions. Nasal base breadth and facial breadth are important measurements used in the assessment of external facial morphology and provide useful information about individual variation in facial proportions. Understanding the relationship between these dimensions may contribute to the documentation of normal facial characteristics and support anatomical and anthropometric research. The study will determine the nasal base breadth and facial breadth of young adults using standardized anatomical landmarks and direct anthropometric measurement procedures. Nasal base breadth will be measured across the widest portion of the nasal base, while facial breadth will be determined as the maximum transverse distance between the appropriate lateral facial landmarks. The study will describe the distribution of both measurements and determine the degree of association between nasal base breadth and facial breadth among the participants. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. Young adults who meet the established eligibility criteria will be selected using an appropriate sampling technique. Data will be collected through direct observation and standardized anthropometric measurements using suitable measuring instruments, with consistent participant positioning and anatomical landmarks maintained throughout the assessment. The collected data will be analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while Pearson correlation analysis will be used to determine the relationship between nasal base breadth and facial breadth. The study is expected to reveal measurable variation in nasal base breadth and facial breadth among the young adults. The correlation analysis is expected to indicate the direction and strength of the association between the two measurements.
