Relationship Between Femoral Triangle Dimensions and Thigh Measurements Among Young Adults

Abstract

The study examines the relationship between femoral triangle dimensions and thigh measurements among young adults, with emphasis on determining whether selected external thigh measurements are associated with the anatomical dimensions of the femoral triangle. The femoral triangle is an important anatomical region in the upper anterior thigh bounded by the inguinal ligament, sartorius muscle, and adductor longus muscle, and it contains major neurovascular structures including the femoral nerve, femoral artery, and femoral vein. Knowledge of its dimensions is important for understanding regional anatomy and for supporting clinical procedures involving the femoral neurovascular structures. The study will determine selected dimensions of the femoral triangle and selected thigh measurements among young adults. The specific objectives will include measuring the length, width, and other relevant dimensions of the femoral triangle, determining thigh length and circumference, assessing the relationship between femoral triangle dimensions and thigh measurements, and determining the strength and direction of any observed associations. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. An appropriate sample of young adults will be selected using a suitable sampling technique. Femoral triangle dimensions will be assessed using standardized anatomical landmarks and appropriate imaging-based or anatomical procedures, while thigh measurements will be obtained through standardized anthropometric techniques using suitable measuring instruments. The collected data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while correlation and appropriate inferential tests will be used to determine the strength and statistical significance of relationships between the variables. The study is expected to reveal measurable variation in both femoral triangle dimensions and thigh measurements among the participants. It is recommended that standardized morphometric, anthropometric, and imaging procedures be used when assessing the femoral triangle and thigh dimensions, while further studies involving larger and more diverse populations should be conducted to establish broader anatomical reference data.
