Relationship Between Adductor Magnus Muscle Dimensions and Thigh Length Among Undergraduate Students

Abstract

The study examines the relationship between adductor magnus muscle dimensions and thigh length among undergraduate students, with emphasis on determining whether variations in thigh length are associated with differences in the dimensions of the adductor magnus muscle. The adductor magnus is a large muscle of the medial and posterior aspects of the thigh and plays an important role in hip adduction, extension, and stabilization of the lower limb. Understanding its dimensional characteristics may contribute to knowledge of individual variation in lower-limb muscular anatomy. The study will determine selected dimensions of the adductor magnus muscle and assess the thigh length of undergraduate students. The specific objectives will include measuring selected dimensions of the adductor magnus muscle, determining the thigh length of the participants, assessing the variation in both measurements, and establishing the relationship between adductor magnus muscle dimensions and thigh length among the study participants. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. An appropriate sample of undergraduate students will be selected using a suitable sampling technique. Data on adductor magnus muscle dimensions will be obtained through standardized anatomical or imaging-based assessment procedures, while thigh length will be measured using appropriate anthropometric techniques and standardized anatomical landmarks. The data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while correlation and appropriate inferential statistical tests will be used to determine the relationship between the variables. The study is expected to reveal variations in the dimensions of the adductor magnus muscle and thigh length among the undergraduate students studied.
