Morphological Variation of the Fibularis Longus Muscle Among Young Adults

Abstract

The study examines the morphological variation of the fibularis longus muscle among young adults, with emphasis on differences in its anatomical configuration, dimensions, and structural characteristics. The fibularis longus is a major muscle of the lateral compartment of the leg and contributes to eversion and plantarflexion of the foot, while also supporting ankle stability and the arches of the foot. Understanding its morphological characteristics is important for appreciating individual variation in lower-limb anatomy and for supporting clinical and functional assessment of the leg and ankle region. The study will assess the morphological characteristics of the fibularis longus muscle among young adults using standardized anatomical landmarks and appropriate assessment procedures. The specific objectives will include identifying different morphological patterns of the muscle, determining selected dimensions, documenting variations in its shape and configuration, and assessing observable differences in its anatomical characteristics among the study participants. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. An appropriate sample of young adult participants will be selected using a suitable sampling technique.
