ESTABLISHMENT AND USE OF LIBRARY IN THE IMPLICATION OF 6.3.3.4 SYSTEM IN NIGERIA

INTRODUCTION

The 6-3-3-4 system was introduced as a significant restructuring of the educational framework in Nigeria, aiming to provide a more comprehensive and practical education for its citizens. OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

Main Objective: To assess the impact of library establishment and utilization within the context of the 6-3-3-4 system in Nigeria, with a focus on their contribution to the overall effectiveness of the educational framework.

Specific Objectives:

Evaluate the current state of library infrastructure and resources in primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary educational institutions operating under the 6-3-3-4 system in Nigeria.

Investigate the challenges faced by libraries, including funding constraints, shortage of qualified personnel, and technological limitations, to identify key factors influencing their effective establishment and utilization.

RESEARCH HYPOTHESES

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study will be of immense benefit to other researchers who intend to know more on this study and can also be used by non-researchers to build more on their research work. This study contributes to knowledge and could serve as a guide for other study. 

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

This study focuses on the establishment and utilization of libraries within the 6-3-3-4 education system in Nigeria. It examines the current state of library infrastructure, challenges faced, and the role of libraries in supporting practical education. The scope encompasses primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary educational institutions.

LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The demanding schedule of respondents at work made it very difficult getting the respondents to participate in the survey. As a result, retrieving copies of questionnaire in timely fashion was very challenging. Also, the researcher is a student and therefore has limited time as well as resources in covering extensive literature available in conducting this research. Information provided by the researcher may not hold true for all businesses or organizations but is restricted to the selected organization used as a study in this research especially in the locality where this study is being conducted. Finally, the researcher is restricted only to the evidence provided by the participants in the research and therefore cannot determine the reliability and accuracy of the information provided.

Financial constraint: Insufficient fund tends to impede the efficiency of the researcher in sourcing for the relevant materials, literature or information and in the process of data collection (internet, questionnaire and interview).

Time constraint: The researcher will simultaneously engage in this study with other academic work. This consequently will cut down on the time devoted for the research work.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

6-3-3-4 System: The educational framework in Nigeria, consisting of six years of primary education, three years of junior secondary education, three years of senior secondary education, and four years of tertiary education.

Library Establishment: The process of creating and developing libraries, including physical infrastructure, resources, and staffing, within educational institutions.

Library Utilization: The effective use of library resources, services, and facilities by students, educators, and researchers to enhance learning, research, and academic achievement.
