Abstract

The study examines the effect of building permit procedures on private development projects, with emphasis on how the processes involved in obtaining development approval influence the planning, implementation, and completion of privately initiated building projects. Building permit procedures provide a formal mechanism for assessing proposed developments before construction and are intended to ensure compliance with planning, architectural, structural, environmental, and safety requirements. The efficiency and clarity of these procedures may therefore influence the progress and overall delivery of private development projects. The study will assess the major stages involved in obtaining building permits for private development projects and examine their effects on project implementation. Attention will be given to application requirements, submission procedures, document verification, professional involvement, technical assessment, inspection, approval timelines, fees, and communication between applicants and relevant authorities.
