Abstract
Policy portfolio composition refers to the distribution of insurance policies within a portfolio according to factors such as product type, policy duration, benefit structure, premium level, and coverage characteristics. The composition of an insurance portfolio can influence the timing and amount of expected premium inflows, claims payments, maturity benefits, and other contractual cash flows. Understanding portfolio composition is therefore important for accurate actuarial cash flow projections and effective insurance financial planning. This study will examine the effect of policy portfolio composition on expected insurance cash flows. It will assess how variations in the types and characteristics of policies contained within an insurance portfolio influence the amount and timing of expected cash inflows and outflows. The study will also examine the relationship between portfolio composition, premium income, claims payments, benefit payments, policy duration, and projected insurance cash flows.
