Effect of Bancassurance Distribution on Insurance Premium Volumes

Abstract

Bancassurance distribution involves the use of banking institutions and their established customer networks as channels for marketing and distributing insurance products. This arrangement enables insurers to access potential policyholders through banks while allowing banks to provide insurance-related products and services to their customers. The structure and reach of bancassurance distribution may therefore influence the volume of insurance policies acquired and the premium income generated by insurers. This study will examine the effect of bancassurance distribution on insurance premium volumes. It will assess how the use of banks as insurance distribution channels influences the volume of premiums generated from insurance business. The study will also examine variations in premium volumes associated with the level of bancassurance activity and the distribution of insurance products through banking networks. The study will focus on bancassurance distribution, insurance premium volumes, insurance policy acquisition, premium income, bank distribution channels, insurance sales, customer reach, insurance products, distribution networks, and premium generation. Relevant data on bancassurance activities, policy volumes, and premium income will be examined to identify patterns in premium generation. Statistical and actuarial techniques will be applied to determine the relationship between bancassurance distribution and insurance premium volumes. A quantitative research approach will be adopted for the study. Historical insurance premium, policy acquisition, bancassurance, and distribution data will be analysed using descriptive statistics, trend analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, premium volume analysis, and sensitivity analysis. Variations in bancassurance distribution activities will be compared with corresponding insurance premium volumes to determine the extent of their effect. The study is expected to reveal that bancassurance distribution may have a significant effect on insurance premium volumes. Increased use of banking networks may expand insurers’ access to potential customers and facilitate the distribution of insurance products, potentially resulting in higher premium volumes. The magnitude of the effect may depend on the size of the banking network, customer reach, product availability, distribution activity, and the level of customer participation in insurance products. The study will be useful to insurance companies, banks, actuaries, insurance marketers, financial managers, regulators, and researchers. It may provide useful information for evaluating bancassurance distribution channels, improving insurance sales strategies, expanding customer access, and strengthening premium generation. The findings may also assist insurers and banks in assessing the contribution of bancassurance arrangements to insurance premium volumes. The study concludes that bancassurance distribution is an important consideration in insurance premium generation because the use of banking networks can influence the reach and acquisition of insurance customers. It is therefore recommended that insurers and banking institutions regularly evaluate bancassurance distribution activities, maintain reliable premium and policy records, and strengthen appropriate distribution arrangements to support sustainable insurance premium growth.
