Relationship Between Tibialis Anterior Muscle Length and Leg Length Among Undergraduate Students

Abstract

The study examines the relationship between tibialis anterior muscle length and leg length among undergraduate students, with emphasis on determining whether variations in leg length are associated with differences in the length of the tibialis anterior muscle. The tibialis anterior is a major muscle of the anterior compartment of the leg and plays an important role in dorsiflexion and inversion of the foot. Understanding the relationship between its length and leg length may provide useful information on lower-limb muscular proportions and anatomical variation. The study will determine the length of the tibialis anterior muscle and measure the leg length of undergraduate students. The specific objectives will include measuring the tibialis anterior muscle length, determining the leg length of the participants, assessing the variation in both measurements, and establishing the relationship between tibialis anterior muscle length and leg length among the study participants. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. An appropriate sample of undergraduate students will be selected using a suitable sampling technique. Data on tibialis anterior muscle length will be obtained through standardized anatomical or imaging-based assessment procedures, while leg length will be measured using appropriate anthropometric techniques and standardized anatomical landmarks.
