Relationship Between Thigh Length and Hip Mobility Among Undergraduate Students

Abstract

The study examines the relationship between thigh length and hip mobility among undergraduate students. Thigh length is an important anthropometric characteristic that reflects the proportional dimensions of the lower limb, while hip mobility is essential for locomotion, posture, balance, and various physical activities. Understanding the relationship between thigh length and hip mobility may provide useful information on the anatomical and functional characteristics of the lower limb among young adults. The study will specifically determine the thigh length of undergraduate students and assess hip mobility through selected standardized movements of the hip joint. Thigh length will be measured using appropriate anatomical landmarks and standardized anthropometric procedures, while hip mobility will be assessed through relevant range-of-motion measurements. The study will also determine the strength and direction of the relationship between thigh length and hip mobility among the participants. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. Undergraduate students will be selected using an appropriate sampling technique, and relevant demographic information will be obtained. Thigh length will be measured using standardized anthropometric procedures, while hip mobility will be assessed using an appropriate goniometric or range-of-motion technique. It is expected to recommend the use of standardized anthropometric and range-of-motion assessment procedures in similar studies and encourage further research involving larger and more diverse populations to provide broader information on the relationship between lower limb proportions and hip function.
