Relationship Between Iliac Crest Dimensions and Pelvic Breadth Among Young Adults

Abstract

The study examines the relationship between iliac crest dimensions and pelvic breadth among young adults. The iliac crest forms the superior border of the ilium and represents an important structural component of the pelvis. Its dimensions contribute to the overall configuration of the pelvic girdle and may vary among individuals. Understanding the relationship between iliac crest dimensions and pelvic breadth may provide useful information on pelvic morphology and may have relevance to anthropometric assessment, anatomical identification, clinical evaluation, and biomechanical studies. The study aims to determine the dimensions of the iliac crest and pelvic breadth among young adults and establish the relationship between selected iliac crest measurements and pelvic breadth. It will specifically assess selected dimensions of the iliac crest and overall pelvic breadth and determine the strength and direction of the association between these anatomical measurements. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. Young adults who meet the predetermined inclusion criteria will be selected using an appropriate sampling technique. Iliac crest dimensions and pelvic breadth will be assessed using standardized anthropometric procedures and appropriate anatomical landmarks or imaging-based methods where required.
