Relationship Between Esophageal Length and Body Height Among Undergraduate Students

Abstract

The study examines the relationship between esophageal length and body height among undergraduate students, with emphasis on determining the association between the length of the esophagus and the overall stature of the participants. The esophagus is a muscular tube that connects the pharynx to the stomach and serves an important role in the transportation of swallowed materials. Understanding its anatomical dimensions in relation to body height may provide useful information on normal anatomical proportions and may have relevance to diagnostic, radiological, endoscopic, and surgical procedures involving the upper gastrointestinal tract. The study will assess esophageal length and body height among the study population and determine the relationship between the two measurements. The specific objectives will include determining the esophageal length of the participants, measuring their body height, examining the relationship between esophageal length and body height, and determining the strength and direction of any observed association between the two variables. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. An appropriate sample of undergraduate students will be selected using a suitable sampling technique.
