Correlation Between Second Toe Length and Foot Length Among Undergraduate Students

Abstract

The study will examine the correlation between second toe length and foot length among undergraduate students, with emphasis on determining whether variation in the length of the second toe is associated with overall foot length. Toe and foot dimensions are important anthropometric characteristics that reflect variation in the morphology and proportions of the lower limb. Understanding their relationship may provide useful information for anatomical and anthropometric studies. The study will determine the length of the second toe and overall foot length among selected undergraduate students. Second toe length will be measured from an appropriate standardized anatomical landmark to the tip of the toe, while foot length will be measured from the posterior aspect of the heel to the most anterior point of the foot. The measurements will be obtained using standardized anthropometric procedures. A cross-sectional descriptive research design will be adopted for the study. Undergraduate students will be selected using an appropriate sampling technique, and the required measurements will be obtained using suitable anthropometric instruments. The collected data will be analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, while an appropriate correlation technique will be used to determine the strength and direction of the relationship between second toe length and foot length. The study is expected to reveal variation in second toe length and foot length among the participants. It is also expected to determine whether a measurable correlation exists between the two variables and establish the strength and direction of any observed association.
