Abstract
Adult learning provides opportunities for adults to acquire relevant knowledge and practical skills that can improve their ability to interact with modern technologies and everyday environments. Navigation technology refers to technological tools and systems used to determine location, identify routes, provide directions, and support movement from one place to another. These technologies include global positioning systems, digital maps, route-planning applications, navigation devices, and location-based services. Adults’ knowledge of navigation technology is increasingly important because such technologies are widely used for transportation, travel, delivery services, community activities, and occupational tasks. This study will examine the effect of adult learning on adults’ knowledge of navigation technology, with the purpose of determining whether adult learning can improve their understanding of navigation tools and their practical applications. Adult learning can introduce participants to navigation concepts through demonstrations, discussions, practical exercises, guided activities, and experience-based learning. Data collected will be analysed using relevant descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to determine the effect of adult learning on adults’ knowledge of navigation technology. The study is expected to establish that adult learning has a positive effect on adults’ knowledge of navigation technology. Adults who participate in relevant learning activities are expected to demonstrate improved understanding of digital maps, location services, route planning, positioning systems, and navigation applications. The study may also establish that practical demonstrations and hands-on navigation exercises provide effective opportunities for adults to understand and apply navigation concepts. Such findings would demonstrate the importance of adult learning in helping adults adapt to technological tools that increasingly support transportation, travel, communication, and everyday mobility. The findings will have implications for Adult Education practitioners, programme facilitators, community educators, and curriculum developers. Relevant Adult Education programmes may need to incorporate practical technology activities that expose learners to commonly used navigation tools and location-based services. Facilitators can use digital maps, simulated routes, demonstrations, practical exercises, and familiar travel scenarios to improve learners’ understanding. Such approaches can help adults develop confidence in interpreting navigation information while encouraging responsible use of technological directions and location-based services. The study will be significant to adult learners, educators, community organizations, transport users, workers, and other stakeholders interested in technological awareness and everyday mobility. It will provide useful information on how adult learning can improve adults’ knowledge of navigation technology and support more effective interaction with digital navigation tools. The study will recommend the inclusion of practical navigation-technology activities in appropriate Adult Education programmes and encourage learning approaches that connect navigation concepts with real-life transportation and community experiences. It will conclude that strengthening adults’ knowledge through adult learning can promote greater technological awareness and more informed use of navigation technology.
