Abstract

The study examines the anatomical variation of the superior pharyngeal constrictor muscle among young adults, with emphasis on differences in its shape, size, thickness, attachment pattern, and overall anatomical configuration. The superior pharyngeal constrictor is the uppermost component of the pharyngeal constrictor muscle group and contributes to the coordinated contraction of the pharyngeal wall during swallowing. Its anatomical relationships with the pharyngeal wall, pterygoid region, buccinator muscle, and surrounding structures make knowledge of its morphology important for understanding variations in the upper pharyngeal region and for clinical procedures involving swallowing and the upper aerodigestive tract. The study will assess the anatomical characteristics and variations of the superior pharyngeal constrictor muscle among young adults using standardized anatomical landmarks and appropriate anatomical or imaging-based assessment procedures.
