Abstract
The study assesses farmers’ knowledge of digital agricultural ordering systems. Digital agricultural ordering systems provide farmers with electronic platforms for ordering farm inputs, equipment, services, and other agricultural resources. Knowledge of these systems can help farmers access agricultural products more conveniently, compare available options, communicate with suppliers, and improve the management of farm input procurement activities. The study will assess farmers’ level of knowledge of digital agricultural ordering systems and determine their understanding of the meaning, functions, benefits, and procedures involved in using such systems. It will also examine farmers’ knowledge of how digital ordering platforms can be used to search for agricultural products, place orders, communicate with suppliers, confirm transactions, and monitor the delivery of farm inputs and other agricultural resources. A descriptive survey research design will be adopted for the study. Data will be collected from selected farmers using structured questionnaires administered through an appropriate sampling procedure. The data collected will be analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, percentages, mean, and standard deviation, while an appropriate inferential statistical technique may be used to examine variations in farmers’ knowledge of digital agricultural ordering systems. The study is expected to reveal varying levels of farmers’ knowledge of digital agricultural ordering systems. Farmers with greater exposure to digital technologies and agricultural information are expected to demonstrate better understanding of the use and benefits of online ordering platforms. However, limited digital literacy, inadequate internet connectivity, lack of access to smartphones, concerns about online transactions, and limited awareness of available agricultural ordering platforms may contribute to knowledge gaps. The findings will be useful to agricultural extension officers, agricultural development agencies, policymakers, agricultural input suppliers, digital agricultural service providers, and farmers’ organizations by providing information on farmers’ knowledge of digital ordering systems. The findings may also assist in developing extension education programmes that improve farmers’ digital skills and awareness of electronic methods for obtaining agricultural inputs and services. The study will conclude that adequate knowledge of digital agricultural ordering systems can improve farmers’ ability to access agricultural inputs and services through digital channels. It will recommend strengthening extension education on digital agricultural platforms, improving farmers’ digital literacy, promoting awareness of reliable ordering systems, and providing practical guidance on safe and effective online ordering and transaction procedures.
