Abstract
The study will assess farmers’ knowledge of agricultural storage inspection reporting. Storage inspection reporting is important for documenting the condition of stored agricultural produce, identifying emerging storage problems, and supporting timely corrective actions. Farmers’ knowledge of proper inspection reporting can contribute to effective storage management, improved record keeping, reduced post-harvest losses, and better maintenance of produce quality. The study will focus on farmers’ knowledge of conducting routine storage inspections, recording the condition of stored produce, documenting signs of spoilage, pest infestation, moisture problems, physical damage, storage temperature, ventilation, and other relevant storage conditions. It will also examine farmers’ understanding of the importance of inspection dates, quantities inspected, identified problems, corrective actions taken, and follow-up records in agricultural storage management. A descriptive survey research design will be adopted for the study. The population will comprise farmers involved in the storage and management of agricultural produce in the selected study area. A suitable sampling procedure will be used to select respondents, while data will be collected through a structured questionnaire designed to assess farmers’ knowledge of agricultural storage inspection reporting. Data collected will be analyzed using frequency counts, percentages, mean, and standard deviation. The study is expected to reveal the level of farmers’ knowledge of agricultural storage inspection reporting and identify areas where knowledge may be inadequate. It is also expected to show farmers’ understanding of inspection procedures, documentation of storage conditions, reporting of identified problems, maintenance of inspection records, and the use of inspection information for storage management decisions. The study will provide information that can guide the development of extension programmes and practical training aimed at improving farmers’ knowledge of storage inspection reporting and strengthening systematic monitoring of stored agricultural produce. The study will conclude that adequate knowledge of storage inspection reporting is important for effective agricultural storage management and timely identification of storage-related problems. It will recommend that agricultural extension services should provide farmers with practical training, demonstrations, and technical information on routine storage inspections, accurate reporting, record keeping, and appropriate follow-up actions to improve the management and preservation of stored produce.
